Project Background


The smart restroom is a product of smart tourism, integrating technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, network communication, and sensors. These technologies empower traditional restrooms with real-time perception, accurate decision-making, and precise execution capabilities. This transformation addresses key challenges in traditional restroom services, such as odor control, stall guidance, and personalized service, enabling refined restroom management and providing tourists with high-quality, premium, and comfortable experiences.

The smart restroom integrated monitoring system aims to solve the challenges of "centralized monitoring, centralized maintenance, and centralized management" for multiple restrooms in scattered locations. The monitoring focuses on air quality, visitor traffic statistics, and stall occupancy. By installing environmental sensors to collect real-time data on restroom conditions, stall sensors to monitor occupancy, and people counters to track foot traffic, the system enables intelligent, real-time monitoring and adjustment of restroom environments and equipment. This ensures the restrooms are consistently clean, comfortable, and hygienic.


Solution


As part of the Phase III Lijiang Airport Terminal Expansion Low Voltage Engineering Project (Section 1), the smart restroom system (currently in the detailed design phase) includes the installation of various sensors such as:Environmental sensors (air quality sensors),Stall status sensors,People counters (passenger flow monitoring terminals),Doorway indicator lights,These sensors communicate via RS485, DI, TCP, or other protocols to smart monitoring terminals, which handle local data collection, analysis, storage, and visual display through external LCD terminals. A user-friendly graphical interface provides real-time insights. Additionally, the monitoring terminal supports uplink data interfaces to upload information to a centralized monitoring platform, enabling unified oversight and management of all restrooms.The system is designed for scalability, with reserved interfaces allowing integration of additional smart devices such as tissue dispensers, deodorizing exhaust systems, and multimedia control units. A WeChat Mini Program can also be used to provide convenient services for passengers, offer enriched management tools for operators, enhance service quality, reduce management costs, and improve operational efficiency.

Monitoring Scope: 17 restrooms in the terminal building;

Monitoring Content: Ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, temperature and humidity, visitor flow, stall occupancy status, indicator lights, and reserved smart device interfaces.
