Jitong Intelligent has provided China Resources Gas (Zhongshan) with an IoT-based remote transmission module for industrial and commercial gas flow meters. This module is an IoT-enabled device designed to measure and monitor gas flow. It integrates sensors, communication modules, and data processing units, enabling real-time monitoring, data transmission, and remote management via IoT connectivity.In this project, Jitong Intelligent also assisted the client in integrating the remote transmission module with the China Resources Gas Group’s IoT device management platform, ensuring secure, stable, and efficient data transmission between the devices and the platform.
Industrial and commercial gas users, though fewer in number, consume large volumes of gas and have relatively low service costs, making them key targets for development and maintenance by gas companies. To further improve service quality, implement differentiated pricing strategies, and achieve refined management, it is essential to have comprehensive access to their gas usage information.The flow meter is a core component for trade metering between gas companies and users. Its level of intelligence significantly impacts the company’s sales operations, service quality, and safety management. With the development and expanded application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the intelligent transformation of industrial and commercial flow meters has become a necessary digital approach for gas companies to efficiently manage their industrial and commercial users.
1. Automatic Meter Reading and Billing:
Through the IoT platform, meter readings are transmitted to the gas company's CIS system, automatically generating billing data each month. After verification, gas charges are issued without the need for manual on-site meter reading.
2. Real-Time Gas Usage Monitoring:
Using the supporting system, the intelligent remote transmission flow meter sends various operational parameters—such as flow rate, pressure, load ratio, and power consumption—back to the gas company. By comparing this data, the system can promptly detect changes in pressure and temperature on the user side, visually assess the meter's operational load, and optimize the match between meters and usage, achieving precise metering.
3. Accurate Usage Analysis:
The system classifies and analyzes flow meter data based on criteria such as user name, region, and time period, and generates daily, monthly, and yearly gas usage reports. With tools like line charts, bar graphs, and pie charts, it enables multi-dimensional comparative analysis to identify usage patterns of key users. By mining the remote data, the system can scientifically forecast demand, optimize gas supply scheduling, and support peak shaving during winter and differentiated marketing strategies. In the event of significant usage changes, personnel can be dispatched to inspect the flow meters and remote transmission devices to identify issues such as gas leaks, meter blockages, or equipment failures—ensuring safe and stable gas supply.
4. Timely and Efficient Fault Handling:
The intelligent remote management system monitors the flow meters and includes 15 types of alarm parameters for anomalies such as reduced readings, missing data uploads, low voltage, or weak signal. When alarm conditions are met, fault information is sent to the management platform and displayed on the dashboard, prompting personnel to take action. Monthly alarm statistics are categorized and output as reports, facilitating the resolution of recurring issues. The system also supports future secondary development, enabling flow meter data to be displayed on mobile devices via an app, and fault notifications to be issued as work orders to responsible personnel, ensuring immediate response and resolution.
5. Reduced Labor Costs:
After system implementation, meter readers will be freed from repetitive manual tasks and can shift their focus to customer relationship management, market research, data analysis, and fault handling. This enhances service quality for industrial and commercial users and provides valuable insights to support company development.
